
Hi there! I’m Laura Whitfield and this is Cooked By Laura.
I believe there is something deeply satisfying about cooking from scratch. Not because it’s trendy or impressive, but because it connects you to what you’re eating in a way that a microwave meal simply never can. The smell of onions softening in butter, the sound of bread coming out of the oven, the pride of putting something on the table that you built from nothing. That’s what keeps me in the kitchen.
I grew up in rural England watching my grandmother turn basic pantry ingredients into meals that could feed ten people and still have leftovers. She never used a recipe. Everything lived in her hands and her memory. When she passed she left behind a small handwritten notebook and a whole philosophy about food that I carry with me to this day.
Cooked By Laura is my attempt to capture that spirit. Every recipe here is made from scratch using real ingredients. No shortcuts, no packets, no mystery ingredients. Just honest cooking done properly.
I hope something here inspires you to roll up your sleeves and make something beautiful.
